WHY THERE IS A LEAP YEAR?

In general 1 year has 365 days.But leap year consists of 366 days .Extra one day will gets added in February month as February 29.Usually leap year will comes after every four(4) years .
in general we will calculate ,time require to rotate earth completely around sun as 365 days(normal year )

As per scientific it takes 365 days 5 hours 48 min 46 seconds(approx-365.2421 days) to rotate completely.

For every one year 1/4 day will get adds to 365 days .


After every 4 years we will get 1 complete day and it added in february month .considered as "FEBRUARY 29".when we get February 29 that year will be treated as LEAP YEAR .
one year =365days+1/4 day

leap year will comes after every 4 years so.
I.e leap year =4*365days+4*1/4day
=4* 365 days+1 day

example: for leap year is February 29 2004

we will treat a year as leap year when it satisfies below two conditions

1.It must be divisible with 4

2.it must be divisible with 100 but not with 400

when 1st condition satisfied we must check the 2nd condition.

sometimes a year will satisfies 1st condition but not 2nd one.Then we can't treat it as leap year.

example: 2000

2000 is not a leap year.

because it will divisible with 4,and 100 and also it will divisible with 400.so we can say it is not a leap year.
